In Transnistria kidnappers free the man who “offended Shevchuk”


The citizen of the Republic of Moldova, Alexander Koliban, free from imprisonment in Transnistria (Pridnestrovie).

As it was reported before, the local security forces kidnapped a young man, born in 1990, citizen of Moldova. Later he was sentenced by Transnistrian authorities for 2 years and 6 months of imprisonment. As the result, he spent more than a year in terrible conditions.

In the autumn of 2011 Alexander Koliban pasted up leaflets against Eugene Shevchuk, who was the candidate for presidency at that time. Shevchuk wrote a police statement and asked to find and arrest “detractors”.

The authorities of Transnsitria opened a criminal investigation on a charge of libel and “resistance to the election committee activities”. Alexander’s mother reported that her son was under arrest for three days and Transnistrian authorities made him witness against the Ukrainian citizen, graphic artist Dmitry Gasanenko.

On 27 June, 2013, Eugene Shevchuk “pardoned” Alexander Koliban after Alexander’s mother had moved a motion.
